Gotlands, Sweden's Enchanting Island- A Travelogue

The trip to Gotlands was nothing short of excitement. It was a beautiful trip from Falun to Gotlands. Though there were lot of stops in between for various reasons, nothing stopped from the fun and excitement we had.

Peaceful Paradise by beach

The beach house we stayed was an old Swedish villa, with a very beautiful wooden interiors. It was a cozy place with all the amenities, where we stayed for 3 days. The wooden decors, the paintings, the mackarome wall hanging added beauty to the already beautiful house. The cozy home sheltered a beautiful little pool as well. Each corner of the house was crafted very thoughtfully, that gave us many, many memories that we carried from the house. We could witness the beauty of sunset from our house, that was a gradient blend of colors and the point where the sky kisses the sea blending two energies.

The Stunning beaches with beautiful pillars

I did not imagine that Pine trees could be this short tat looks like a pine bush. Those are dwarf pines. Those tall undefined, unsymmetrical pillars are nature's work over a few thousand years. I could see a face, others could see different shapes and patterns. It beautifully brought out the different perspectives of the same thing. Amidst all this, the one thing that caught my attention was a Swan pair. They swam together, ate and drank water together. It was a magnificent sight to behold them.

The quiet Blue lagoon

As the name says, it was a beautiful blue place, with not a scary but a beautiful silence. The sands that gently slopes down into the blue water was a pretty good sight to experience.

The windy Sanctuary

There was this quite cliff where all that we could hear is the sound of the wind. The gentle wind which was certainly not a breeze. The kind of wind that shook us for a minute or so. Beneath the cliff is the sight of the sea with the waves dancing with the tune of the wind.

Baa Baa Black Sheep

Until I reached the Gotlands, I did not know that sheep is their symbol and that sheep are so common there. They reminded me of our famous childhood rhymes ' Baa baa black Sheep' which my daughter was singing all the way. Loos like the song was written after the sheep here. They were so fluffy, black and cute.

The beautiful Visby Doors

We reached Visby Old Town, the beautiful thing about Visby that caught my attention and that I admired most was the doors. Each of the door were brilliantly designed and has their own unique color and design. It somehow reminded me of South Indian doors from the place I come from.

The Church

There is this Church in the Visby old town. It was a very old church with a beautiful architecture. The glass art was so huge and done in a beautiful and intricate way that was so adorable. It has a huge altar where so many people could sit and pray. We could witness the culture that was carried on for so many years.

Reflections from the lovely Gotlands

It was a wonderful trip there with so many nice memories and experience. There are lot other little experiences and nuances that could not be documented but one could only experience it. While the cruise left the dock, we could see the place that hold so many memories leaving behind. Though it was tiring physically, it was refreshing and rejuvenating mentally as the explorations had a profound effect on us. Did shop a sheet souvenir in the cruise for a physical memory though. The kids play area, the cards game, etc. had so much fun. The Gotlands trip was indeed a amazing one!
